   Preliminary figures indicate that, as a whole, law enforcement agencies throughout the Nation reported an increase of 1.3 percent in the number of violent crimes in 2006 when compared to figures reported for 2005. Safety Tip

If you need to take out an opponent fast, then the best target to strike is their eyes. If they can't see you, then they can't attack you. However, most people will instinctively protect their eyes, so it may not be the easiest target to strike.

If you go for their eyes and they effectively block your strike, then a good diversion strike will often work for you.

Strike low first. Stomp on their foot, kick them in the shin or knee or groin, anywhere that will cause them to drop their hands away from their face. As soon as they drop their hands, immediately go for the eyes.
