   Preliminary figures indicate that, as a whole, law enforcement agencies throughout the Nation reported an increase of 1.3 percent in the number of violent crimes in 2006 when compared to figures reported for 2005. The police, try as they may to protect us, can't be everywhere all of the time.

(And quite frankly, I wouldn't want them to be everywhere all of the time. That's called a communist police state, and it's not what America is about)

Also, for the most part, the police can only get involved after a crime has already been committed.

You and I are the real first line of defense and we have the right to protect ourselves and our loved ones against crime, with REASONABLE FORCE.

Reasonable force means if someone threatens you with words, then you have the right to defend yourself with words...If someone threatens you with physical violence, then you have the right to protect yourself against them with physical violence...If someone threatens to take your life with a weapon, then you have the right to take their life in self defense.

However, you do NOT have the right to take someone's life if they merely threaten you with words.

It's a fine line between reasonable and unreasonable force. And that line gets even thinner in the heat of battle.
